TT Polich & Associates awarded $26,803,069 1st Street Viaduct Project

TT Polich & Associates in a joint venture with Steve P. Rados, Inc. has been awarded the $26,803,069 contract extending the 1st Street Viaduct of the Los Angeles River by 26 feet to the north as well as removing the remaining northerly sidewalks and railings. The existing concrete pylons and light poles are to be relocated to the newly widened location. All exterior of the newly widened portion will have architectural and historic treatment, including the concrete stairs, columns and arches, to match the original bridge.
The underpass streets, Santa Fe Avenue and Myers Street, will be lowered to meet the vertical and lateral clearances. The frontage roads north of the Viaduct will be converted to pedestrian walkways with landscaping. The contract should be completed in aproximately 2 1/2 years.
