Featured ProjectsSPR has been involved in a wide variety of public works projects over the Western United States since its inception in 1922. We have a proven record of outstanding performance on both heavy construction and highway construction projects.Heavy Construction
Steve P. Rados, Inc.'s heavy construction division involves the construction
of large diameter pipelines and tie-in structures, as well as water treatment
facilities, to provide California's ever growing population with a clean
source of water. A typical pipeline project will include excavating, laying,
and backfilling miles of pipe, either along existing roadways or through
open country, and connecting into existing facilities or new structures.
The diameter of the pipe could range from 36" to as large as 144". Shoring
could be accomplished by a movable trench shield or with drilled beams and
lagging, depending on the soil conditions and depth of the excavation. Dewatering
of the site and/or soil improvements may be necessary as well. The structures
could be 40' deep, 50' long by 50' wide with 4' thick walls. Shoring of
these massive structures is usually accomplished with sheet pile, walers
and struts. Sheet pile is also used to construct jacking and receiving pits
for tunneling pipe under highways and rivers.

Steve P. Rados, Inc.'s highway construction division involves the construction of bridges, retaining walls, drainage systems, etc., in order to widen, replace, or realign California's greatly burdened
infrastructure. Current and past projects include: reconstructing 12 miles of SR 22 through a design-build joint venture;
realigning the connection between Rte 405 and Rte 101 (one of the nation's most heavily traveled interchanges); seismically
retrofitted Rtes 8 & 805 by enlarging existing columns and footings; constructed 2.5 miles of an elevated light rail system
for the MTA's Green Line; constructed new railroad bridges for the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority. We take great
pride in our participation in these capital improvements for increasing public safety by easing traffic congestion in
California's roadways and freeways, and for enhancing the flow of goods on our state's railways.
